Location: Oak Ridge, TN
Salary: Highly Competitive Plus Benefits
Contract: Permanent, full time
Reporting to: Senior VP of Marketing and External Affairs
Your role in the mission:
Lead the company’s North American market development activities through the development of key relationships and successful negotiation of complex commercial and government program transactions. The position will work with key staff members of the company to identify and capture new business opportunities. External relationships are essential to this position as it serves as a key project development representative of the company. This position reports directly to the SVP, Marketing and External Affairs, and is based in East Tennessee.
- Maintain a continual awareness of the industry, emerging trends, and factors that influence the value of the Type One Energy stellarator technology in target markets
- Manage the development, submission, and execution of relevant US government grant opportunities acting as the commercial lead.
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, develop commercial partnerships, lead proposal preparation.
- Represent the company as a presenter on peer-level panels, workshops, and conference speaking opportunities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal working level cross-departmental interactions.
- Support the development of competitive and market opportunity analysis in target sectors.
- Provide accurate and timely reports to keep management aware of progress and developing issues.
- Represent company in key forums.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, engineering, or scientific discipline—MS degree preferred.
- 5-8 year of experience in business or project development and complex sales
- Has demonstrated the ability to close large, complex sales contracts
- Goes beyond traditional thinking, articulates technical issues, and is an effective negotiator
- Maintains professional poise and excellent presentation skills
- Originates ideas, and comprehends complex concepts – of both business and technical orientation
- Able to facilitate Executive level client and senior-level government official meetings
- Self-reliant, able to adapt to a growing, fast-paced organization, and a team player
- Build positive, long-term relationships at all levels in the industry
- Has significant and demonstrated experience successfully engaging in energy-related business development activities, both domestically and on an international basis
